Originally from Melbourne, Judy moved to New Zealand 11 years ago and it was her move to Devonport that unleashed her inner child and love of fantasy and enchantment.
She was inspired to create the Fairy Tree (a much loved community tree that's visited regularly by locals and tourists). But it was her background and passion of dance and costume design both in Melbourne and Auckland, that inspired her to develop the quirky, poetically romantic style of sculptures she currently produces. Often with a practical, but non-conforming vision in mind, she's inspired by prolific English writer H.G Wells and French poet/playwright Jules Verne.
Her art reflects her view of life - Embrace the simplistic beauty of each day, don't take life too seriously and nurture the imagination.
