Frances van Dammen

Frances van Dammen is well known for her unique contemporary
botanical works that draw on New Zealand flora and native bush.

Many of her lush canvases portray plant life in meticulous detail that is
neither entirely real nor completely imagined. Flora is often depicted
using a vivid colour palette. Her works this year introduce some
unexpected elements.

van Dammen works from her Devonport Studio and has exhibited in solo
and group shows throughout the North Island. After graduating from
WINTEC with a Bachelor of Media Arts in 2007, she went on to win the
New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award.
